riddle me a riddle
Q. What weighs 1 1/2 kilos and costs over 55 Euros?
A. Today’s stack of outgoing post.
Seeing as I didn’t charge anywhere near that much for postage, I obviously shouldn’t have relied on my kitchen scale as a postal scale. No wonder I’m not losing weight! LOL. I also ran out of envelopes very quickly and had to buy some. But hopefully everyone’s packets will arrive in record time and you’ll all delight in your new yummy stash.
Thank you all for helping me to de-stash!
Today saw me packing, of course, and then rearranging Nick & Rowen’s room. Our realtor has given strict recommendations to make the house ultimately saleable in this rotten market, and I’m doing my best to follow her advice. Our living room was forced to conform on Saturday, and now Nick & Rowen’s room looks like it’s ready for a magazine photo spread. Just between you & me, I do not like this. I may actually forget how to stitch by the time I’m able to do it again.
lightening the load
Edited to add: I’m delighted by all the response! However, I must ask that the ladies who have been contacted regarding payment please either pay or back out of the sale because there are so many other people also interested. And to the very many (!!) people sending me emails, PLEASE leave your comment here at the blog rather than emailing me. It gets a bit difficult to keep track of who asked for what first. Thanks!!
I have a few charts that didn’t fit in the box. Some of them are duplicates, others I’ve stitched, and a few are ones that I know I won’t be stitching. Rather than flog them on eBay, I thought I’d offer them for peanuts to people who actually know me. I’m set up for PayPal payments, but if you don’t do PayPal, just let me know and we’ll try to work something else out. Most of these are new, and all of them are at least like-new. No markings, tears, etc.
Postage isn’t included in the prices below. Generally speaking, I can ship 1 chart to the US for $4.20, about 3 charts for $8.40, and 4 or more for $15.40 – obviously some charts are heavier or lighter, but that’s something to go by. I’ll weigh them and charge only what the post office hits me up for. I recycle (padded) envelopes so there’s no extra charges for that kind of stuff. LMK what you’d like and I’ll get an exact total for you. First come, first serve. Charts that’ve sold have been crossed out like this.
(12 Oct.)Update regarding postage: For the few remaining charts, if anyone wants to buy them, I will get it pre-weighed at the post office.

aaah, productivity …
What a nice weekend! I hope yours was, too! I did indeed finish the stitching on the third gift and, if all goes well, the finish-finishing will be done by the time my head hits the pillow tonight. I’ve managed to pull all the coordinating fabrics, etc. so it’s “just” a matter of assembly. LOL. If only you could see me when I’m putting things together … you’d laugh yourself silly.
While I was stitching, Ash was busy putting a lot of irresistible goodies up on eBay. One of the most talented all-around crafters I’ve ever met – I mean, everything Ash did was drop-dead gorgeous – she’s out of crafts and is clearing out all her remaining stash. You really have to go look. And drool! (And bid, LOL!)
We enjoyed a very laid-back Father’s Day here at Chateau Chaos. No pictures, I’m sorry, though I was tempted to post one of Niek in his special red & white striped apron. He insisted on cooking dinner even though he should’ve had the day off.
While the kids were out playing, I picked up Blessed Be by Stacy Nash. It’s been a long time since this one has seen the light of day. The linen, 40 ct Dark Chino R&R, is very challenging to stitch on and that’s probably why it got shoved to the back of the drawer. But it really is the perfect linen for this project, so I’ll soldier on. Believe it or not, I did the face three times before I was remotely satisfied with it (and even now, I’m not sure …). I’m doing this using my own choice of flosses.
I also picked up Eleanor Spooner’s Spot Sampler, one of my own designs, and put in a few more stitches on this one. I love this project, but because I started it just for myself, it was continually pushed back to make time for other stitching obligations. Since I’ve recently made contact with Eleanor’s youngest daughter, however, I’ve decided to stitch and frame it for her. And now my procrastination is due to worries that my work won’t be good enough. Sigh … I’m my own worst enemy! (Please overlook the creases & wrinkles – because I’m doing this in non-colorfast silks, I’m waiting till the very end to iron it.)
For the next couple of days, I’ll be stitching a quilt square for the breast cancer group. The lady receiving this quilt is an avid horse rider, so I’ve combed through all my old magazines and found some horse-related designs that I’m combining to create her square. I just started it this morning and the first part of the design is from Cross Stitch & Needlework June 1997.
Wishing one and all a most lovely week, full of sunshine and good health!
Francophile de-stash
After an absurd amount of waffling, I’ve decided to part with most of my De fil en aiguille magazines. They’re all in like-new condition and you know we don’t smoke. We do have pets, but they don’t cross stitch and therefore stay out of my stash. LOL. Back issues of the magazine retail at over 10 euro (about $13.50) an issue , so I don’t think it’s out of line to ask $7 each.
Edited to add updated shipping information:
These magazines are printed on heavy, glossy paper and they are thick. To send them anywhere outside of Europe in a cardboard envelope (to ensure pristine condition) is $14.34 per magazine. Or I can send them in a paper envelope for $10.89. But of course I can’t guarantee what condition it will arrive in.
I’m also open to trades for anyone who doesn’t have PayPal or would rather trade than buy. Please leave a comment on this post as to which issue(s) you want. I’ll reply in the order that the comments are left. The pics are clickable for a bigger image of both the cover and the inside cover.
