I haven’t had enough time for stitching, and what little I did have today, I blew reading a really disappointing book (The Island of Lost Girls). Don’t you hate that feeling, when you put down a book and think to yourself, “What a waste of x hours – I could’ve been doing …”. But here’s Girl’s Best Friend by Birds of a Feather, so far.
I would LOVE to tear right through it – it’s so darned cute! But tomorrow is Meeting Wednesday, and there won’t be a chance to squeeze in any stitching at all.
It warmed up here today, but yesterday was cold! Flip found comfort in a box beside the woodstove. Of course it begs for all sorts of comments about letting the cat out of the bag, the Cat in the Hat, etc. Flip’s very cool with his fame, as you can see. Cats have such amazing composure.
The mailman made us all very happy today. The DVD that Niek’s parents made of our wedding arrived today. I only made one joke about it being a little early for our tenth year anniversary.
His grandma also sent us a letter that included a press clipping – they interviewed her about the rebuilding done in her neighborhood and basically built the whole article around her opinions. She’s as composed about her fame as Flip is about his. And I received my Stitching Bits and Bobs sale order – can you believe it? They must’ve set a new speed record! I also ordered some dish towels from eBay to make into Christmas gifts next year.
(I am truly terrifying with this pre-planning and organization, aren’t I? Don’t worry, it’s bound to wear off soon.)

Hi Barbara – glad you found some time for stitching. Flip is one cool cat!

I have two dogs & cats. You’re right, cats have a poise about them even if they’re found in strange places. With a family as busy as yours, I would think organization is key. :80) Love reading about the exploits.

Ahhh, a new year, a new Barbara – Decisive! Organized! Calm! (am I close?)
Love that puppy in the works. Looks great!
Flip reminds me of my Julius. I do so love orange tabbies.

Oh my gosh, the BOAF is so cute! So is Flip, of course.
Nice stash! Funny about Niek’s grandma taking fame so calmly.

Love your BoaF progress!

Love that BOAF! Flip is adorable. Sorry to hear about the sucky book. I’ve felt like that about books I was really looking forward to, like the latest Dan Brown & Janet Evanovich–like I wanted to ask for compensation for time wasted. LOL

I don’t know that BOAF pattern, but what you stitched up looks SO pretty.
Your cat is a cutie, and love your new stash

Can you tell meabout the pattern “the quick brown fox”…. did you order it from Stitching bits and bobs?

Yes, that’s one of Paulette Stewart’s designs that I’ve longed for for months. I got it from Stitching Bits and Bobs, but pretty much everyone carries her designs.

I hate it when you are disappointed by a book
Lovely new stash!

Your Birds Of A Feather piece is wonderful! Good for you getting plans started for next Christmas. I love the organized feeling! I can’t believe how much your kitty looks like one of ours – almost identical!

I feel the same way when I watch a disappointing movie! Such a waste of my precious time
Always nice to have a good mail day, isn’t it? And that is a amazingly quick service from Stitching Bits and Bobs–maybe I’ll give them another chance!
Enjoy your busy day, Barbara

What a fun mail day! Sweet kitty. Organized? I don’t think I know the meaning. Have a great day!

I just said to someone recently that I think stitchers and organizing go hand in hand… Well, until it all gets scattered about, then we’re organizing again! Cute stitching and great packages – including the one with Flip!

OH I just love that little dog! It reminds me so much of my Lola.

reading your blog posts are always a treat!!! Beautiful stitching – lovely photos ; )

That’s a cute finish. Enjoy your new stash!
January 19th, 2012 at 9:36 am
It would be an odd finish, seeing as how the dog just sort of … tapers off. More of a WIP, I’d say.

what a cute BOAF! and great new stash in the mail. I love coming home to surprises in the mailbox
January 20th, 2012 at 1:25 pm
Loving the stash and the little doggy, but of course you know it FLIP that made my day. So much like my Mel, casually in the glare of the spotlight!

Such a cutie dog (stitched) and cutie cat (in the box), lol.
I know what you mean about wasting your time with disappointing books. Because of that and because I’m a very slow reader I have a 50-page-rule: When I don’t feel drawn into a book by page 50 I stop reading it and choose the next.

The pup is adorable! Flip is too cute in the bag! My kitty thinks that whenever something is on the floor it’s an invitation to get in whether it’s her size or not!!
January 22nd, 2012 at 12:45 am
oops! that’s a box, not a bag!
