in which our heroine takes a day off

After my garden chores yesterday, and catching up on some writing deadlines the day before, and catching up on stitching deadlines a couple of days before that, etcetera, I felt like I deserved a day off.  It’s probably just me looking for an excuse to goof off, but hey, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. ;)

Naturally on a day off, one wants to craft, right? Well, that’s what I wanted to do. Specifically, I wanted to make a kitty. Last Easter, I made the kids Easter bunnies. Nothing new there, as I make them something for their Easter baskets every year – but last year’s project turned out especially good (even if the photos definitely did not, LOL) and that was really thanks to some excellent instruction and a fool-proof free pattern.

So when I decided that I simply had to make a kitty doll for a friend, and didn’t have time to make one of my own embroidered ones, I turned to the same source hoping for another fool-proof finish: *Wee Wonderfuls.  Tada: Meet Angel Pointy Kitty! She’s guaranteed to help you fly over your problems, rather than getting mired down in them. She has a ready smile for even the dreariest day. She’s such a winsome, sweet little creature that my kids are more than a little upset that she’s destined for a home elsewhere. (To the friend who’s receiving this, I apologize for the sneak preview, but I just had to share!)

While I had fun crafting, Arden got in some quality TV time. I just had to laugh at the poses he struck – the kid cracks me up.

I hope your day included at least a snippet of something that made you happy – or even made you laugh right out loud!

*Wee Wonderfuls offers patterns for sale and also has a blog that has many free download patterns. She has embroidery, paper dolls, and stuffies. Go on, now, get over there and have some fun!

Love that kitty! I have some of her free patterns printed, but haven’t made any of them yet. I’m happy to see they turn out so beautiful! Arden is a cutie patootie for sure!

I love your pointy kitty – such a sweet face – but tell me if you can – see that little piece of lace on the back of said kitty, what is it? I thrifted a few of these bits of lace around a ring and have no idea what they are intended for. Do you? Bx

I bought the lace that I’m using as wings (if that’s what you mean) intending to use them as floss rings in needlebooks but the floss caught on them. The lace dealer I bought them from did not know their original purpose.

Thanks Barbara. I guess they may just be decorative rather than for anything in particular and we can use them as wings or anything we like! I’m sure I’ll find a use for mine one day. Bx

ps can you remember Life Before Kids? All the free time you had? ;-)

I definitely think you deserve a day off. That kitty is just adorable!! I love her! I can see why your kids are sad at her leaving. :D Arden is always so cute. He definitely has personality, that one!

Love the kitty! I find it nearly impossible to give away any crafty item in the form of an animal. I become immediately attached to it.

OMG!!! That is a fantastic doll. You really out did yourself there. I love it!

Arden reminds me of Cameron in these photos. How do you keep him off the TV???? Our 52″ tv is broke b/c of Cameron and we can’t afford to have it fixed right now. We had to borrow another room’s tv which is only a 19″. It is the eyesore of our living room now.
