hodgepodge post

11.20.08

What an interesting day! One of the cars was in the shop, so I walked everywhere with the kids. Luckily it was dry, if dark and chilly, and we had the time to walk at a pace comfortable for the kids. Nicky went to his first school-pal birthday party and came home absolutely bursting from the excitement of it. Rigby and Lola went to the vet – Rigby had to have a toenail removed that he somehow damaged during some rough outdoor play with Lola – and Lola needed to have the works. The vet said she’s still underweight, but I explained that she’d put on a lot of weight since we got her and the vet said she’s very healthy other than that. She’s sore tonight after having a booster shot and her electronic chip inserted, but that’s just temporary.

Cozy Critters

I’ve been doing some odds and ends of stitching – a primitive Santa figure, a modified sampler stocking pattern, and a few other things. I really need to get Max’s Christmas gift – a needleroll/scissorkeep/stitcher’s pocket thingie – going. As well as finishing up a custom order for my etsy shop. I seem to have a hard time concentrating right now, though, and I hope it’ll pass soon. ;) Max hasn’t had a hard time, though. Look at this ornament he made! (I helped with the final finishing, but he did everything else.)

Véronique, my partner for the TGOSM ornament exchange, obviously didn’t have any problem with concentration either! Gorgeous, huh? Well you should smell it – she included some lavender from her garden and it’s heavenly!

I was actually delighted to find a secondary finishing pile today! I knew I’d stitched something for … someone … but when I did ‘all’ my finishing the other day, it wasn’t there. Aha, I’d tidied up and a Ziploc bag of stitched pieces (only 3 in all) got mixed in with some linen from my stash. So tonight I was able to indulge in some really pleasurable finishing. I’m pretty psyched with the outcome, but they are gifts. Sigh. Actually, I’ve been keeping the postal people quite busy in an effort to repay, at least a tiny bit, the many kindnesses that so many stitchers have shown me this year. You guys are so darned fabulous. Seriously. Anyway, pics to follow when they make their way to their real homes.

In addition to all my busy-ness, I have found time to be silly, too. For instance, you can also refer to me by my Elvish name, Haeronwen. You now, I actually quite like it.  Not sure Rowen will like hers (Dolithiel) as much, though. ;) Here are a few cute pictures to end this post with a smile. :D

Our little Maggie was to the vet today too! Two shots plus she had her nails clipped – it’s always something!

I’m having trouble getting motivated tonight too — think I might just go to bed!

Arden — what a little cutie!

Hey Haeronwen, it sounds klike you’ve been spending some quality time with all of your creatures, great small, smooth and hairy. Max’s ornie is very impressive!

  4. Vonna Says:

Well wouldn’t that just figure that “Vonna” isn’t on the list? I never got shoelaces or pencils with my name on them either…stinks!
Max did lovely on his ornament…and those are some certainly cute pictures at the end :o )

Congratulations to Max for his beautiful ornament! And, I think it is very cool that he likes to stitch. The ornament you received is beautiful! Hope your lovely dog feels better, and my goodness it looks like Arden has grown by leaps and bounds just since his last photo shoot!

I love my Elvish name by the way, and I get to pick from two!

Congrats to Max for finishing a cute ornament!
I could get Sean interested in almost everything except needlework. We made paper, decoupaged, stenciled, etc. He turned out to be a good collage artist with posters he made for school projects-some the teachers asked to keep.
Very sweet photos of children and furry pals.
