wet and wild weekend
07.19.08
I’ve read about some commentors’ requests for rain with more than a little bit of envy. Believe me, if I could send a little your way, I gladly would! Here’s what it looked like when I walked Rigby this morning, and right now it’s raining so hard that it looks like a cartoon or something. From what I’ve heard from friends and family the world over, the weather patterns everywhere seem to be out-of-order, whacky, messed-up. My FIL doesn’t believe in global climate change; how about you?
Luckily there are hobbies for OCD people like myself who cannot control the weather. After finishing Max’s teacher’s gift, I happily whipped up a little outfit for the (almost) newborn daughter of some of our friends. We’ll be visiting her tomorrow for the first time. Max was pretty strict with me that the flower on the pink pants had to be yellow. Once again, the designs are my own. I’ve noticed I seem to have a bit of a thing with birds …. LOL.
The kids and I had lunch at McDonalds yesterday – together with nearly every other parent/child combination for at least a radius of 50 square miles! We literally scooped up the last table in the place, and I think I stood in line for 15 minutes before I could even place my order. It was total bedlam. We chose to drive to a Golden Arches outside of town, where they have an indoor play area as well as an outdoor playground and that turned out to be a wise move, as the skies opened shorty after we were seated. That didn’t stop some kids from going outside to play, but this mean mommy drew the line at sopping wet children. ;0 They had a great time, and although I wished I had earplugs, I had fun, too. McDonalds really does bring the kid out in a person.
For this weekend’s blog give-away, I have a great leaflet from The Cricket Collection that I just know I won’t get around to stitching before the turn of the next century. It’s in perfect condition, other than a price sticker in the upper corner. This is Thoreau’s Friends, leaflet 127. The verse reads: Friends. They are kind to each other’s hopes and cherish each other’s dreams. I’ll do a random drawing on Monday. Please say specifically in your comment if you want to be included in the drawing.
(Sorry for the poor lighting – my camera batteries need re-charging … and the sun needs to come out!)
and an important notice (IMHO)
I’ve cut all the prices on the items currently in stock in my etsy shop. I figure if I am faced with an empty shop, I’ll be more focused than ever on creating loads of great projects to fill it back up!
Help me out!! Spread the word!

Well, our weather forecast looks good from tomorrow onwards, so maybe the sun will be making its way over to you shortly. I’ll keep my fingers crossed!

Our weather is behaving rather like yours at the moment. It was sunny and dry last Sunday for the first time in weeks, but ever since its been wet. At this moment it’s dark (it’s mid-day) and hammering down grrr.
Your MacD’s must be much better than ours. I don’t know of any that have play areas. Just seating to eat. Sounds like you had a great time
) I love that photo of Arden cheekily peeping round his pram!
What a cute little outfit you stitched for the baby. I think Max chose well with the yellow. It looks great!
That’s a lovely chart you’re giving away, but don’t include me in the draw … I have sooo many things I want to stitch at the moment already lol.

Barbara, your chart was waiting for me in the mail when I got home from work yesterday – wasn’t that fast? Thank you so much for giving it away – I really love it. Glad you and the kiddos were able to have a fun day despite the weather.

Cute kids! My daughter loves MacD’s too.
I really love this leaflet, but I don’t expect to be in the draw. It’s been a long time since I visited here and may be the first time I comment.
Jade, the drawing’s open to everyone, whether a regular commentor or a first-time visitor.

The munchkins look like they are enjoying their McD’s – cute pic of Arden too
I have a feeling I will visiting the Golden Arches with the kids in the next day or two as I need to do the grocery shopping. McD’s is situated in the same shopping centre as the supermarket so I bribe the kids with lunch there if they help me out with the shopping
Adorable baby outfit – Max has an eye for colour!

I don’t need this chart Barbara. I have it in my files. Just wanted to say that I stitched the sunflower welcome years ago for my nephew and his new bride. Sunflowers were the theme of the wedding day and this chart just came out at the perfect time!
We had a big of rain in the wee small hours of the a.m. Now the sun is out and it looks like a HOT day.

I don’t have this chart – how did that happen? I love Vicki’s designs – always have. Yes, please enter me in your giveaway
)
Sorry about the weather but sure looks like the famous golden arches did the job.
Ben and I are off to the waterpark this morning – you have rain we have heat. LOL

Like KarenV our weather is due to brighten up tomorrow and I’ve even seen a spot of sun today – hoorah! On the other hand on the forecast they’ve been showing temps in the 30s in the Med, now that would just be too hot for me! I hope it brightens up for you and the kids soon
Lovely photos too!

Sounds like a great time at McDonalds – the perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon.

Yesterday, only my youngest’s vacation began. But I went with him and my DD3 to ‘bakker Bart’, maybe you know that boy too… We had lunch and went for some shopping: vakantieboeken. We have our own traditions, but my DD1 en DD2 aren’t interested anymore.
Today we had loads of rain too, but I hear we’ll be getting some summerweather, beginning next Tuesday!
Love the girloutfit. You’re making it very special: stitching your own designs.
Have a nice weekend.

The little stitched shirt is adorable!
Everything is drying up and turning brown here, but I know rain can get you down. At least you went to a McDonald’s for a change of scenery. We have one less than a mile away along with Baskin Robbins and Subway.
I have the Cricket design and wanted to stitch it too.
You are doing great with your etsy store. I sold one thing.

Rain, rain go away! We have had just too much here. Lotz of homes flooded.
I love the little blue birds. The PS Barn Cat pillow is so awesome.
Kids love McDonald’s don’t they? and a indoor play area, woohoo!!
Happy Stitching!

Hi!
I know what your weather was this morning, it was as awful as ours I presume
I’d like to be in your drawing contest, please.
Love, Marlies

Oh and I forgot to say I would love to buy from your etsy shop the reproduction samplers. Going to order it right now. You don’t have to send it of course, I’ll come by to pick it up.

It’s funny because we went to Mc DOnald’s today for lunch with Steb and he got a toy from the Panda movie too (the tiger one). I guess all the european kids get the same …
I can send rain too to whoever want it
I am so tired of this summer (same as last year actually) My parents are enjoying a great sunny and warm weather . That’s why everybody go south … Oh Maybe that’s why our Mac Donalds have indoor play areas
In Texas it was to beat the heat, here it is to beat the rain …
Emma told me it should be nice tomorrow: fingers crossed

Love that picture of Arden so bright and alert. Include me in the drawing, please. I recently picked up some linen (yes, heading down that slippery slope.

Barbara, you amaze me with your creativity and productivity!! Your embroidery is so sweet, I love those little blue birds. I hope you get some sunshine soon!
Don’t include me in the drawing this time, please, I’ll give someone else a chance!

The happy meal packaging is almost exactly the same as ours. Freaky! Pictures on the box are the same, but it opens differently to the Aussie happy meal boxes.

Barbara, The birds are so darling! And so is Arden peeking around the pram! I adore that shot!

We’ve had a TON of rain this year too. And I’m originally from Arizona so it’s especially wet to me
