The kids’ summer vacation begins today, and looking at their weary little faces, I’d say it’s not a moment too soon.

I’m a little tired, today, too, I must admit. I put off the “last few stitches” on Country Cat till after the kids were in bed. Basically, those last few stitches were half of the cat, and I am a slow stitcher, so I was up till nearly 2 am. But it came out so great! Sorry for the less-than perfect photo (I took it before I went to bed, so I wouldn’t forget to do it this morning).  This chart is also for sale in my etsy shop. ;)

Of course, it could just be the weather that’s making us all feel tired. What a lot of rain. And more rain. It’s not like a Noah-style deluge, but just rain every single day. I’m mildewing, I swear. The waterfowl, however, are glad they came to the Netherlands for summer holidays. LOL! Our apple tree has been a very popular gathering spot (watch where you step – swans may look pretty, but what they leave behind is not!) and last night I went out in the drizzle to get a few pictures of this big guest. There was also a tiny cat hiding in our bushes while I took these photos that had the most astonished, round eyes I’ve ever seen. No idea if he was more scared of me or of the swan, but he wasn’t budging from his hidey-hole!

swans like apples too

The weather hasn’t gotten one of us down, though. Here’s my jolly pal having a good laugh in his playpen.

what a happy boy

Rightio, off with the kids to celebrate the end of school and the beginning of summer. I think a spree at McDonalds is called for! Wishing you all a wonderful Friday!!

(Oh, I will be doing another giveaway during the weekend, so watch this space! ;) )

    Very nice stitching :)

LOL at the swan inference, it’s like that around Roath Park where they have a lot of birdlife, it’s lovely you just have to watch your step ;)

Lovely photos of the children, really hope it brightens up for the their summer hols!

Lovely finish Barbara, it’s a cute design. I hear you on the weather – we’re getting the occasional sunny day, but it’s mainly cloudy, overcast and showery over here, not very inspiring!

  3. Kathy A Says:

Goodness, I hope you weather clears soon or you and the children will be shack happy. We had a big, crashing, banging, booming thunderstorm here last night. It was quite the light and sound showl Like you, I prefer to watch the swans from afar. We have a family not far from where we live and they can get quite nasty if you get too close to the little ones. Your cat is just too cute.

  4. Tanya Says:

Yikes – large birds freak me out. LOL Great picture of it though!

Too bad about the rain – nothing like it day in day out to wear down the mood. Hope the kids have a great start to the holiday with McDoanlds though – what else can bring a smile but fries, I say :o )

Arden is just the epitome of cute!

Haven’t seen a swan in ages. Maybe I am getting old and batty, but I think the swans in the US have orange legs and feet, the same color as their beak? Very brave of you to get that close. Hope you and the kids enjoy the first day of Summer Vacation. There is nothing like that feeling.

  6. Barb Says:

I love that pillow! I need to find that chart! Great pictures of the kids.

  7. Heidi Says:

Swans have dangerous power to their wings and can really hurt you if you get too close so please be careful. I hope the kids will have a fun summer vacation. McD’s sounds like a good beginning for them. You seem a fast stitcher to me as that cat is a rather fat cat that needed lots of stitches. :)

    Hugs ~

I love the cat! What a beautiful swan, and I wish I could see them while walking around. We have had lots of rain too, but we have it in the form of a thunderstorm every afternoon. Beautiful smile on the little one!

The swan is gorgeous!!! On the way to my uncle’s house, the people have a huge pond out front and I always love to see their swans gliding gracefully along.
