I hope those who celebrate it enjoyed a wonderful Independence Day yesterday. I missed it, but not nearly as much as I miss Thanksgiving.

Some fun stuff happened to me yesterday and I’m so happy to share it. First off, Jenna sent me some of her hand-crafted cards and they arrived! I like them so much that I actually used one before I even took this picture! LOL! Jenna, I swear you can do ANYTHING! We also have a proudly displayed example of Jenna’s quilling as well as some lovely cross stitched projects she’s made me. What talent! What a great friend!

Jenna's cards 001

And I won Cathi’s recent giveaway. I can hardly believe it. Cathi’s this incredibly talented quilter – in addition to being a totally cool person with the toughest, bravest mom this side of the moon. I am just a-wiggle with excitement and am already trying to decide where to display Cathi’s handiwork. Wow, a Dear Jane quilt wall hanging, all for myself! Pinch me!

I’ve been watching the news since Arden’s birth – it’s about the only thing on TV during his feedings, so I’ve been sucked in. I watch the Dutch, British, and American news. Sometimes, if a topic really piques my interest, I’ll try to follow the German news, too, but my German stinks. Unsurprisingly, most of the topics keep coming back to the energy crisis which has started a question rattling around inside my head that I’m going to field it out to you. Please let me know your answer to the following:

If you were only allowed one final tank of gas for your car for a non-essential trip, where would you go?

I love the cards, and lucky you to have won the quilt giveaway–I went to look at it, and it’s beautifully piced and stitched.

In answer to your question: with one last frivolous tank of gas, I would drive to Fredericksburg to the needlework shop (Everything Cross Stitch) and Cottage Knitting (12 mi), stop at Carl’s for soft-serve ice cream, then from there to Alexandria to stop at In Stitches (35 mi), then from Alexandria to Vienna to stop at the Scarlet Thread (15 mi.) then home (40 mi.)

Barbara – that quilt is amazing! Congratulations – what a special gift and lucky you for winning it.

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. I’m still thinking about that last tank of gas …. hmmmmmm…..

Glad you like it!!! You have been so good to me and mom, I was very happy when your name was pulled out of the “hat” (aka ziploc bag with pieces of paper in it!!)

Will send it out early next week!

I would give it to you! I don’t drive. Don’t need a car, don’t need gas. My tank would be all yours :)

Just arrived home last night and have just scrolled through your recent blogs – wow great stitching and lovely gifts Barbara.

Yes – we’re moving to your part of the world. Happy to provide details – email me at megratdataviadotcom asap and I’ll write you. We’ll probably be out of town again starting Tuesday but I’ll try to email before then.

    Have a wonderful weekend.

Seems like we’ve both been lucky this week! ;) One last tank of gas….hmmm, probably a trip to my favourite NSLQS, The Bramble Patch, would be in order, I think.

Congratulations on your win! One tank of gas… hmmm. Well, if just one tank would last me about 3000 miles, I’d go to Old Town in Albuquerque. But assuming normal usage, I’d have to settle for Old St. Charles here in MO :)

    The beach!!!!!!

We take public transportation 90% of the time, so I guess I’d either take it to the bike shop so we could ride bikes the other 10% or we’d use it to drive to my cousin’s for Sunday dinners. (We could take public trans almost the whole way to her house. But will she pick us up with her last tank?)

  10. Jennifer Says:

Hmm, one tank wouldn’t get me from Ohio to New Jersey, but if I had the “fantasy tank” I would go to my hometown to see my parents. Yes, I could fly there much faster, but I could take all the animals in the car!

Oh gosh… that’s a tough question! I’m tempted to say that I’d use my one tank of gas to drive 90 minutes to a neighboring city with an LNS for me, Costco and another store that DH enjoys and an indoor amusement park for DS.

I was going to use my tank of gas on a visit to my mom’s because we all enjoy that also, but that trip is a necessity so it doesn’t count :)

What lovely cards, and all the Birds you’ve been doing and posting pictures of recently look wonderful. How creative to do all the different designs, and I’ve enjoyed reading about each of them. As to the gas, I don’t know, I’d have to think about it. A trip to my not so close LNS is up there, but as I really do have sufficient stash, there would probably be other places that would rank up there after more consideration.

    Lovely presents!
One tank of gas….hmmm let me see. My first thought was to my LNS but then since it’s but no one tank wouldn’t get me to NY from Las Vegas! But a girl could dream! Great question!

  14. Dianne Says:

One tank of gas-to some beach resort-probably Ocean City, MD. Or up to NYC again….or a new place that I’ve been thinking of.
Great gifts and congrats for winning the quilted piece.

  15. Joanie Says:

Hmm.mm..m. Since I drive a gas guzzling SUV, that tank wouldn’t take me very far. So within a 4 hour radius, I could go to NYC, to Niagra Falls and Canada, or to Philadelphia. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to any of those places. I guess I’d go to NYC because there are tons of things to do. Next I’d go to Niagra Falls and then over to the Canadian side. Lastly, Philadelphia for the history lesson.

Love the things that Jenna made for you. Good luck with your Etsy store!

  16. Jenna Says:

Oh, I’m so glad that you liked them and that you’re using them already. :)

  17. Jenna Says:

P.S. If I only had one last tank of gas, I think I’d drive up to see my parents (3.5 hours away) because, without gas, I wouldn’t be able to visit with them.
