Hi everyone! Not much to say or to share as I’ve been soaking up every moment of sunshine that I can … one never knows how long it may last. And when I’ve not been out in the sun, expanding my collection of freckles, I’ve had my nose deeply immersed in Voyager. Yay! Claire made it back! I’m so happy! :)

But it’s a serious matter that brings me out of my novel this evening: My friend Sara (in the US) is looking for a reliable ONS where she can place a fabric order. My own experiences, before going on the wagon, were not much to go by, so I’m asking you where’s the best place to order linen online and actually get what you ordered and within a reasonable time frame? Thanks!!

To reward you for your efforts, I can show off Dutch Beast! It arrived in today’s mail, so Tracy surely tied it to a rocket! The reading material that goes with it is fascinating – for a taste of it, go check out the website. I’m actually thinking of ordering the VC silks to do this in … I could claim it as a birthday gift or a Mother’s day gift, couldn’t I? ;0

And lastly, a peek at a new project, just to show I’ve done a little bit of stitching now and then between the sun rays.

Is your friend Sara in the US or Europe? I only know from the US: Elegant Stitch will cut to the inch and serges their fabrics. They have an impressive array of fabrics available as well.

I like Needle in a Haystack, but she doesn’t cut. She does however carry many, many fabrics.

Silver Needle doesn’t have a lot of hand dyeds (only Weeks and Wichelt) but will sell by the inch.

Those are the only ones I order from.
Added by Barbara: Thanks, Anna. And I’ve edited what I wrote to reflect that Sara’s from the US.

Gift stash is definitely allowed Barbara! ;)

I like your new project – pretty colours! Have a great weekend :)

Dutch Beast is beautiful and I think VC is in order! Thanks for including my fabric delima in your blog!

Go on order the silks ;)
I so know what you mean about enjoying the sun whilst its there!
    Lovely new start

I’ve had wonderful experiences with House of Stitches (http://www.houseofstitches.com). They have a huge selection of fabric in several different colors and pre-cut sizes, really good prices, and the shipping is lightning fast. I’ve only bought pre-cut sizes from them and don’t know if they custom cut, though.

Glad you’re still enjoying the sun! It’s been a very nice week here, but today it’s a bit cooler (65°F) and cloudy. The sun and warm are supposed to come back tomorrow, though, so we’re anticipating that. Especially since it’s the weekend of the International BarBQ Festival in the nearby town. The whole town is going to smell *heavenly* this weekend! *drool*

Although I have liked the Picture This Plus fabric I used for Warm Water Wash and Lakeland Linens, but I have to say that almost all of my fabric is directly from Silkweavers.com. I just love their hand dyed fabrics. They will cut to specific sizes. All of their fabric is serged, except for a few grab bag pieces. They are not super fast, but they are super responsive and super communicative.

Go for the silks. They are SO lovely to stitch with and that piece sure looks like a heirloom to me!

It’s a nice bunch of ladies and Jean the owner is a peach.

I have to recommend Mary Katherine at ehandcrafts.com!

Oops… forgot to add I’m a bit stuck in the middle of Dragonfly in Amber. It got a little slow and I’m having trouble making my self go on. It gets better, right?

  10. Dianne Says:

eBay is good too. Just check out the seller’s feedback.

Glad you are getting some better weather!! I find Amy (Down Sunshine Lane) does a great job with linen… also on ebay, seller ID “dan9!” is most excellent!

I love Silkweaver but only the solos are available fast … It’s great to read what others are saying ;)

  13. Nicki Says:

If it’s just plain linen Sara wants then Sew and So is good – even though they’re in the UK http://www.sewandso.co.uk/
As for fancy linen – well I’ve not found anywhere to be super fast either, though Shakespeare’s Peddler are very good and Teresa is very nice http://www.shakespearespeddler.com/
    Hope you’re having a beautiful day :)

Dutch Beast is beautiful! Order the silks – I won’t tell!

I always get my linen on eBay. Just from my experience which has been very good each time (and I am in the US) the seller ID is dan9!. The exclamation mark is in the ID.

    Enjoy your weekend!

    http://marykathryn.wordpress.com https://sassysfabbys.com//

I’ve used both of of theses sites. Mary Kathryn is wonderful , quick and very helpful. Sassy Fabbys fabrics are beautiful and lovely to work with (sorry preposition at the end of a sentence). Anyway I used both sites with excellent results.
    Hope this helps.

I love the Dutch Beastie and hope to add it to my ever growing stash. I may start framing the patterns in case I don’t get everything stitched. LOL

Love your blog and I thing you kids are wondeful

Love all your photos, the kids look like they’re having loads of fun :) And you definately deserve the silks for that gorgeous chart!

Silkweavers is very good. But everything is dyed to order so it may take 10 or so days to get something. More if she goes on vacation. But what you get is soooooo worth it.

If its something basic (like white 28 ct zweigart) Nordic Needle has the best prices and a really good turn around.

Someone already mentioned Elegant Needle out of Modesto, so I’d like to add Needle in a Haystack. I’ve had great success ordering from both and both carry a lot!

    Love your blog!

I’m glad that you are getting out and enjoying lots of sunshine! I can’t recommend any one LNS for fabric, as I’ve used a couple and it just depends on what you need. I like your latest project, is that a new one for Niek?
