I pledged to make at least one doll for the Comfort Doll project. It’s a cause that’s close to my heart - I feel I failed a friend a long time ago, and have seen first hand how devastating abuse is. Anyway, here is my first doll. She’s nothing fancy, but she’s soft (made of flannel, silk, and very soft cotton) and she’s full of love. She needs a name, though - any suggestions? I’ll be making some more, so watch this space.

I also managed to make Niek’s Valentine’s day card today. It’s a patchwork heart blanket-stitched to a card-sized piece of fabric with the first line of that classic Valentine’s song primitively stitched below (the next two lines are insde the card). I’m pretty pleased with it - cards are my favorite part of Valentine’s day, so I try to have something different for him each year. I’m confident that eventually I’ll succeed in teaching by doing, and he’ll give me a card …

Those packets that I mailed out weeks ago have finally begun to arrive. I was very relieved that Sharon liked the pinkeep I made as a small token of my (huge!) gratitude for all her kindness & support. And now I can finally show a picture of it here.

Sadly, Coral’s and Hazel’s packets, mailed the same day, have not (yet) arrived.
I can pick up my framing tomorrow! I’m both excited and nervous - my usual conflicted condition when I have something professionally framed. Keep your fingers crossed - pictures tomorrow!
What a sweet doll! You did a lovely job and I’m sure the recipient will appreciate it
I like the card and the pinkeep too
Good luck with your framing - mine should be ready next week - I can’t wait! Looking forward to seeing your pictures.

Maybe you could name the doll after the friend from long ago, or a word that reminds you of that friend?

Hi, Ian went to the post box last night. We still have not received your parcel. But we have worked out that the postnet do not collect everyday, as I received 3 statements from my medical aid, and they post out once a week!
I will let you know as soon as it does arrive.
hugs to all - oh, I like Louise too!!

What a great way to express yourself and help someone at the same time. I hope the love you put into the doll will help erase the feelings of disappointment in yourself that you’ve hanging onto:)

Your doll looks so soft and sweet and I am just simply crazy about your patchwork heart card. What a fabulous idea.
Isn’t it fun to make dolls? I am having a ball making and selling mine.

I LOVE your comfort doll. Fantastic. And saw the ones you cut out to create more. Go You. My comfort dolls are still in scraps; however, I will get them done : ) Right now I’m trying to get 2″ squares done for a charity project. These 2″ squares take time — not sure why!!
Sorry your V-Day was a rush around sort of time. Some days are just like that. Our Nicholas had a tooth injury [similar to what you describe] and his tooth darkened. It isn’t as bad as you might think as the tooth falls out in no time - to make room for the adult tooth.
All your stitching projects are awesome!! and in frames!! You rock GF!!
Gotta run errands before the next snow fall …. bleak Winter here in Indiana
[by the way - Pat Winter, who is coordinating the Comfort Doll Project lives in Indiana, too. She is about 40 minute drive from my home]
